Get Noticed With Great Car Headlights

Headlights are an integral component of the car. It helps the driver see the path ahead better during the night drives and also enables other drivers to see your car. Hence the importance of the right selection and maintenance of car headlights cannot be overstressed. However it is not uncommon to see people sporting expensive cars and car accessories but not spending enough time and effort on choosing and maintaining good car headlights.

Many of us tend to overlook the importance of car headlights. The importance is never realized until the headlights go off and you need to go on a night drive. Car headlights play a very important role in the safety of your drives when you are driving down a street which has no lighting at night. The headlights not only allow you to see the obstacles ahead and maneuver properly but also ensure that vehicles coming in the opposite direction see your vehicle.

There are many variants of car headlights available in the market. Incandescent lights are the most conventionally used headlights. They use the tungsten filament technology for lighting up. Once the filament is heated up it becomes incandescent and provides the lighting. As you used these lights for a continued period of time the filament evaporates and finally you need to replace the bulb. A thicker filament will produce light that is not bright enough. This limitation of the incandescent headlights has made manufacturers look for more innovative lighting technologies.

Halogen bulbs are also very popular as car headlights. They work on the same principle as the incandescent bulbs but because of the halogen gas inside the bulb they require only a very thin filament to produce a very bright white light. They also have longer life compared to the incandescent lights.

The HID or high intensity discharge lights are increasingly becoming popular as car headlights. They have xenon gas inside them which charges up the system. There is no filament present and instead an arc is lighted up with an electrical charge. They are favored over their incandescent cousins because of the increased lighting they provide. HID lights are three times brighter than incandescent or halogen lights and last about ten times longer.

With the consciousness of environment increasing amongst people LED car headlights are being the perfect choice amongst manufacturers and users. LED or light emitting diode lights do not produce any heat and come with a solid state nature. There has been a dramatic shift towards this environment friendly light in the automotive industry and is being increasingly used as headlights and tail lights. They produce very bright light which gives the user the feel of bright daylight. The life of Led lights is also much longer than others.

Once you have decided on which type and finish of car headlights it is also equally important to maintain them properly to get the best out of them. The headlights are like the eyes of your car and contribute to how your car looks. Unkempt and poorly maintained headlights can spoil the image of your car. Cracks in the headlights will allow dust and dirt to seep in reducing the brightness of light. Replace any cracked headlights immediately or at least seal it till you get them replaced. Clean the headlights regularly with a headlight cleaner. This will ensure that any dirt deposited is removed and the brightness of the light is not affected. Get the headlights checked annually to ensure that the lights are focused properly and in proper condition. If required replace the bulbs to avoid bad lighting. Car headlights are as important as any other component of the car. Ensure that you buy only the best and the most suitable headlights for your car and maintain them properly to have a safe drive always.
