Autoevent: Paris Motor Show 2008

Initiated by the industry pioneer Albert de Dion in 1898 the Paris Motor Show or the “Mondial de l’Automobile” is one of the biggest automotive trade events in the world. A biannual event with the last being held in 2006 72 world premieres were launched by car manufacturers during the event.

This year’s show is to be held from October 4 to 19. And not to mention that this time too expectations are high and a number of innovative products are expected to greet the visitors.

The auto event’s popularity is unparalleled in 2006 over 11000 journalists flocked over to the venue from about 100 countries. It’s a one stop destination for professionals from the whole industry and around the world to visit the show meet automotive manufacturers and service providers. Not only businesses but the general public too is attracted in large numbers. Hence the show caters wholeheartedly to the automotive trade industry in several ways such as for product launches services marketing image building exercises marketing experiments and PR. All of which makes it a truly happening automotive marketplace.

Traditionally the exhibitors have included manufacturers of private vehicles “niche” automakers the main vehicle equipment manufacturers around the world topnotch designers and some of the best service providers. Some automobile premieres to show up at the event have have already created a lot of buzz. Honda Insight Concept Hybrid a fivepassenger hybrid going on sale in the U.S. next spring is proposed to be marketed at a price much below than today’s hybrids. An Allnew Ford Ka will also debut at the Motor Show. Similarly Subaru would unveil the boxer turbo diesel engine.
